National Coffee Day

OMG! It’s National where can I get a freebie day?

From South Africa to Austria, from the United States to Sweden, today is National Coffee Day, and your Overly Caffeinated Blogger could care less.
WAIT WHAAAAAAAAAAAT???!

National Coffee Day is one of those glorious made up holidays like “Sweetest Day” that keep big chain business busy till Halloween morning arrives and they can roll out all of their Christmas “one day door buster deals”, for at least the next 50 or so odd days.

One of the reasons I do not like National Coffee Day, is that I cannot seem to find out who or why it was invented. To be honest when I google National Coffee Day, all I find is where and when to get a free small black coffee or even worse a coupon… (umm…yay, I guess)

National Coffee Day feels less like a celebration of this hard working drink and the amazing baristas’ who serve it up to us, with a toothy smile regardless of our ridiculous demands like the order that was featured in Fox ’s “Scream Queens: “ A Trenta, no-foam, five shot, half-caf, no foam, Pumpkin Spice Latte, with no foam at 210 degrees,”

This sudo holiday feels more like a gimmick to get customers in the door for cheap coffee with no real point or message! There I said it, commence with the hate mail.

I am, however, really and truly excited for, wait for it. INTERNATIONAL COFFEE DAY!

Which in case you were wondering, yes, this is brand new holiday. It is going to be celebrated on October 1st, 2015 in Milan. This holiday was created by the International Coffee Organization, to promote awareness of Fair Trade Coffee and the growers who cultivate our prized morning elixir.

Regardless of whether its a National or International holiday or hell even just a Tuesday. When you purchase coffee at StoneFruit a portion of ALL sales goes to a local Youngstown charity called the Mission Of Love.
This courageous group of local volunteers has been helping the poor and disenfranchised since the late 1980’s. Now the money that you spend at Stone Fruit Coffee Company gets used by The Mission Of Love to aid in childhood education, health, homes, schools, and preventative medicine.

When you buy any StoneFruit product, from cups to beans, you are making a difference a real difference, at a grass roots level. Offering help to the people who harvest the very same beans SF roasts. So put down that Coffee inspired greeting card and use that cash to help not only your morning java fix but also a local charity.
